I Want To Be Parisian

fabulous black heels @ theotherchic
In America we wear all black and are either called a goth or we are going to a funeral. In Paris they wear all black and are called well-dressed and chic. I found the picture above on the Sartorialist blog (see side panel for link) and though she was dressed in all black one look at her shoes and I was in love. Tres magnifique!

"Young and Stupid"...

...but with the world at your feet? I just have to say that I am so sick all of this Lindsey Lohan, MK Olsen "we got into Hollywood too young and got caught up in the wrong things and that's why I am messed up" crap. While I am not her biggest fan (her style can be a little more Country Jo for my style) I must say that Miley Cyrus seems to be handling the whole teenage popstar/young person in Hollywood pretty damn well. On the other hand, we have the Lindsey's of the world doing coke, becoming lesbians, and going broke and I'm sick of it. Sure it would be hard growing up in the spotlight, but let's face it, when you have all the resources and support that these starlets do it can't be THAT hard to stay sober and not do drugs.
On a lighter note, I am posting this fabulous picture of Drew Barrymore that I saw on style.com. Here's to one actress who can find her way out of drugs and alcoholism and into an outfit this glamorous!

Stella McCartney I Love You....

...but your tennis dress doesn't fit me. I could not be more disappointed than I am right now. I ordered this fabulous frilly bubble tennis dress from the Tennis Warehouse website anticipating wearing it to all my tournaments this summer, alas I ordered the dress too big and it doesn't fit me. While on the subject I might as well admit to my huge obession with Stella McCartney's line for Adidas. Tennis is my favorite sport and my love for pretty things to wear translates to the court as well, making me go gaga for every piece she creates. I seriously peruse eBay for hours at a time looking to see if there is any worthwhile (and worth my dollar) Stella piece there. While this time her tennis dress didn't work out...next time it better.

Could this dress be anymore perfect?

BFFLs

(check out the camp uniforms...)

Yesterday I found out that I got a job at my summer camp (my favorite place in the whole world) as a dock hand. And while I know that I should probably get a real job and do some world-changing thing this summer so I can get into college and whatnot, there is no way I could give up a summer at camp. The thought alone causes my hands to get all clammy and my heart race. Camp is my favorite month out of every year by a long shot and an accurate description of what happens in those 28 days does not exist. I could be really cliché and say that the only way to classify what occurs is “magic”, but that doesn’t do camp any justice whatsoever.

Simply put, camp is about the people. The people are what keep me coming back summer after summer, year after year. I spent the last two weeks on the East Coast visiting colleges and I must say the ones that stood out for me were the ones where I could tell that it was about the people. In some ways, I think I am looking for a college that will be like camp, “magical” in some sense or another. Yet, really what I am looking for are people who will be like the ones I have found at camp, my best friends.

So sorry Ivy Leagues that I won’t be traveling to Taiwan to single-handedly stop child labor, but for me camp is the one constant in my life and I don’t plan on missing out on the one thing I love more than anything else just to get into college.

8 Reasons Why Topshop Will Change America

1. People in London are always better dressed, now we can compete.
2. It will help people save money who have been paying international shipping fees from topshop.co.uk
3. H&M and Forever 21 can expect their sales to go down.
4. Young New Yorkers will suddenly seem more European, more stylish...
5. Celebrities can save money too and look just as good.
6. The opening has given New Yorkers a reason to throw three fabulous bashes.
7. Europe has one more reason to hate us, we are stealing their style once again.
8. College student now have more options when shopping on a student budget and clearly Topshop beats out all other stores.

Now all they need to do is open a Topshop up in Seattle.
